At the beginning of the 11th century, Thorfinn lives happily with his mother Helga and father Thors in Iceland and listens to the adventure stories about Vinland, far to the west, where eternal peace reigns. The Viking epic adapts the manga of the same name by Makoto Yukimura (German edition by Carlsen Manga) and covers the entire Askeladd arc, which includes around the first eight volumes of the manga. In contrast to the manga, the anime version tells the events chronologically, which gives the complex relationship between Thorfinn of Askeladd more emotional weight right from the start. The film adaptation was created at WIT Studio (Attack on Titan) under the direction of Shuhei Yabuta (Inuyashiki Last Hero), who also designed the legendary action sequences in Attack on Titan. Technically impressive animations and spectacular fight scenes are guaranteed.
