After crossing the river, Askeladd, who has taken Prince Knut into custody, believes he is safe for the time being. As his squad marches through Wales, he is stopped by local soldiers, but thanks to Askeladd's negotiating skills - which also contain incredible information - the Welsh are persuaded to let them pass. A little later the first snow unexpectedly sets in.
