From an early age, Tsubasa Ozora has had one great passion: playing football! His ball, which once saved his life, is like an irreplaceable friend to him. After his family moves, he can't wait to get out there and explore the new city. He observes a duel between the rival football clubs Nankatsu and Shutetsu. He decides to get involved - not knowing that he will be facing the reigning champions' ace goalkeeper, Genzo Wakabayashi. Tsubasa scores a goal and then joins Nankatsu's team. Shortly afterwards, Roberto Hongo, a former Brazilian star striker and friend of the Ozora family, appears, who takes Tsubasa's team under his wing and has big plans...
