After Kazuhito has devoured every work by the unknown prolific writer, he is now waiting for the final volume of the Deadly Sins series. As he sits reading in a café again, he witnesses an attack. Without thinking, the student throws himself in front of the woman at the next table to protect her from the armed perpetrator. As he dies, it dawns on the book lover that he will never be able to read again. The thought is so unbearable to him that a short time later he opens his eyes - and sees himself in the mirror opposite as a short-legged dachshund.
