Haruka and Makoto start their student life in the big city of Tokyo, where old acquaintances and new challenges await them. There is also a reunion with her childhood friend Ikuya, who seems to be under great pressure to perform. Even though they just want to help him, his new friend Hiyori seems to have something against their "interference". Nagisa and Rei, on the other hand, try to show the newcomers to the Iwatobi Swimming Club what swimming means to them before they have to leave school themselves. Road to the World - the Dream is more of a reinterpretation than a recap of the third season of the popular series about the boys of the Iwatobi Swimming Club.
