When Kei Nagai survives a fatal accident, one thing is clear: he belongs to the Ajin, a human-like species that cannot die. Of great interest to science, the discovered Ajin are secretly experimented on - including Kei, until he is freed by Sato, also an Ajin. The ruthless criminal kills the researchers and tries to get Kei on his side. However, he has no interest in revenge and flees the research laboratory. Shortly afterwards, Sato leaks videos of the experiments to the public and demands recognition of human rights for the Ajin - under threat of violence. Meanwhile, Kei has found refuge with an old lady and doesn't really want anything to do with the whole thing - but then his sister Eriko finds herself in the enemy's sights...
