In the world of the death gods, Shinigami Ryuk looks back on what was undoubtedly the most interesting phase of his life. This all happened many years before: the star student Light Yagami finds a notebook, the so-called “Death Note”. It is the book of a death god that has the incredible power to kill people by writing down their names. This discovery blurs the boundaries of good and evil for the original justice fanatic and he soon strives to become the god of a specially created new world without crime. He skillfully switches between the role of “Kira”, the redeemer and judge of criminals, and Light, the helpful, clever little guy who helps his opponent, the private detective L, to catch Kira... After Ryuzaki's death, nothing is as it was: Light has joined the police and poses as L so that he can continue to officially search for Kira. On the other hand, he continues to kill with Mikami as his henchman. In this way, Light has an easy time and his ideal world with him as a god gets closer and closer. However, two other people were informed about L's death - Mello and Near, both of whom were considered potential successors for L. Near founds the SPK, a special unit against Kira, and soon comes to the same solution as L before him: Light must be Kira!
