In a parallel world where alchemy, the power to transform matter, reigns, Edward and Alphonse Elric, sons of a renowned alchemist who has gone missing, also lose their mother, victim of the disease. The two young prodigies will try to bring her back to life thanks to their knowledge. But like any science, alchemy requires respect for certain rules that the two brothers will transgress. Their attempt at resurrection then turns into a disaster: Edward loses an arm and a leg while Alphonse is completely dematerialised. Fortunately, Edward will succeed in locking his brother's soul in a suit of armour. Thus begins the adventures of this fraternal duo who will very quickly climb the ranks of state alchemy and whose goal is to find the philosopher's stone whose power should allow them to return to their original bodies and perhaps even resurrect their mother.
